Hi all

I have received an iPad Mini back that I repaired 2 months ago.  All has been fine with it during this time.  Now out of the blue, the lock button has stopped working.  Usually this is because of the sensor, but it was transferred over to the new screen and has been fine.  Also Siri doesn't work once into iOS, but worked when doing the initial setup.

There's no option in Settings for Lock/Unlock mode (like there usually is when a smart cover is fitted).  Has been fully reset to iOS 11, still no change.

Before I go opening it, I'm wondering what else to look for.

He's just sent me an email saying if I cannot get it working he wants a full refund and we get to keep the iPad.  Interesting as our warranty applies to the parts fitted, and not donor parts from previous screen.

Can anyone suggest anything or maybe a source for the replacement sensor as I know RB haven't got them.

Thanks

Phil

Thanks for your email!  Ordered some bits and turns out the Hall Sensor was to blame, for both Siri via Home Button and also Sleep/Wake.

Since found out that on the iPad Mini 4, "Hey Siri" only works tethered when power is connected.

RESULT!  Cheers Bytesize!

Also heard of them but never used before.  Only place that seemed to have them.  Yeah, soldered job, easy to do though even for a micro-soldering idiot like me :-p

quality of their screens I had issues with, so had to drop them as not good enough, might have changed now though?

amazing how that small part failed though after a few months, it's ok I'm not into the micro soldering side of things but could do that though, so I'm a micro soldering idiot too lol
